Travel Photo: Sunrise at Angkor Wat

Today, I will be featuring a photograph I took while exploring a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Where in the world is this?

This is the world-famous sunrise at Angkor Wat in Siem Reap, Cambodia. World-famous in the sense that hundreds of tourists from around the world flock to a specific place in front of the temple every morning just to see this spectacular sight. What you can see is the silhouette of Angkor Wat when the sun reaches the horizon during sunrise. Seeing the sunrise over Angkor Wat is a must-do when you are in Siem Reap. I even included this in my adventure list. Angkor Wat is the largest Hindu temple in the world and is one of the most significant archaeological sites in Southeast Asia. It was included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1992.

  1. I only had 1 day to tour the temple and the other temples as well. But, I didn't get to see the famous sunrise at Angkor Wat. My friend and tour guide told me that the best time to see the sunrise is during the Equinox, when days and nights are equal. They say that the sun rises right at the middle tower.

I couldn't help but notice the symbols and figures that you can see at Angkor Wat. They remind me of Daniel and Revelation. ^^*

    1. Hello there! We explored the temples of Angkor in a day tour too. We woke up early just to see the sunrise. Yeah, the sun rose up on the left side of temple. I wish I can see the sunrise on the temple's center.

Yes, you are right. The temple is full of symbols! Thanks for dropping by! :)

  2. Been to Angkor Wat twice and I still am amazed by the structures there considering this were done in the 12th and 13th century.

    1. Hello! Thanks for dropping by! I am excited for your trip. You should have left your e-mail add here so I can message you directly. Your trip is good! Because you have a return trip ticket. Your documents are good. Just get previous employment certificate or a current employment I.D. or certificate (very, very important). Immigration officials usually ask for the return trip and the current employment proof. So that they'll know that you will be coming back to the Philippines. Update me of your trip. E-mail me at rokx_iphe@yahoo.com. And continue following this blog. Thanks! :)
