Twilight Snapshots of Carcar, Cebu

Carcar, now a city in the province of Cebu, is located approximately 40 kilometers south of Cebu City. Popularly known as the Heritage City of Cebu, Carcar hosts a number of Spanish and American period structures. Its church also stands out, and statues of Jose Rizal and Leon Kilat are prominent in its plaza. Carcar's Rotunda is also a familiar landmark that travelers can see (on their bus window) when they go around southeast or southwest Cebu. Near the Rotunda, one can find Carcar's delicacies that are worth tasting like ampao and chicharon.

These photos were taken at twilight. That's why, most photos are dark and colored blue. Painters often refer to the twilight as the "blue hour" or l'heure bleue, a French expression. And photographers also refer to it as "Sweet Light". This trip with Laagan na Cebuana was also her birthday celebration! Cool, right?

Here are some snapshots. Enjoy!

Mercado Mansion-- Declared a heritage house by the National Historical Institute.

Question: Do you know this man?
Answer: Pantaleon Villegas or "Leon Kilat"

The famous Rotunda.

Have you been here before? Or have you eaten one of Carcar's delicious delicacies? What are your experiences? Feel free to share them here! :)

  4. Been here last January on a side trip for Sinulog Festival. This is also known as the Heritage City of Cebu- the 4th from the list of declared Heriatge City in the Philippines along with Vigan, Silay City and Taal, Batangas. A must do also here is shopping for their local "tsinelas and shoes" - this is Cebu's version of Liliw, Laguna's slipper industry.
