Travel Photo: Backpackers at the Border

Today, I will be featuring a photograph I took while doing my first cross-country road trip in Southeast Asia.

Where in the world is this?

I captured this photo while crossing the Aranyaprathet, Thailand - Poipet, Cambodia border. Here in this photo, backpackers are seen walking past the famous landmark in Poipet: a depiction of the temples of Angkor with the words, Kingdom of Cambodia. This particular border is described as a busy and a bustling border where you can see travelers going to and fro, and Thais and Cambodians doing some trade with one another.

“To travel is to discover that everyone is wrong about other countries.” – Aldous Huxley

Have you crossed this border yourself? Please share your experiences here! :)

  4. The very first time I did solo backpacking outside the Pinas in 2008 Thailand-Cambodia and it wasn't a good experience, one thing I love about Poipet border is leaving it! Safe Travels!

    1. Hi, thanks for dropping by here! Oh how sad. Yeah, because of the heavy traffic of tourists in Poipet, thiefs are rampant and lines are long..
