Listen to Your Heart and Be Changed

I was born to a very humble home. Father was a mechanic and mother was a beautician. And I can really see that they were both hardworking. We were living simple lives then when tragedy struck.

Have you heard of the 1991 Ormoc City Flashflood?

We were one of the victims of that devastating flood that killed thousands of Ormocanons. Miraculously, God spared our family (yes, our whole family and even our friends), though we lost everything we had.

But, there is always “sunshine after the rain”.

Father and mother got a new job as literature evangelists working for the Publishing Ministries Department of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

And since then, their lives and our lives as children were changed.

As a reward to their faithfulness and dedication to their work, they have the opportunity to travel extensively around the Philippines, in Asia, and Australia for free. They have travelled to Baguio, Manila, Cavite, Bicol, Boracay, Bohol, Cebu, Davao, Bukidnon, Thailand, Indonesia, China, Hongkong, and Australia just to name a few of the places they have been to.

I inherited the "traveling genes" from my parents!

Yes, father and mother listened to their hearts and their lives were changed.

Oh! So what about me? I thought, “I need to travel more so I will be like them.”

Sure, I envied their travels so much.

Yet, the greatest leap of faith occurred when Regin Reyno of  Regin's Travels introduced me to the Sole Sisters last year. It dawned on me that there is a beautiful world out there that longs to be discovered, not just merely my daily routine of hospital work and household chores. They were the ones who sparked my passion for traveling that once was dormant in me.

Since then, I have chronicled all my travels and adventures. I have also decided to dedicate all my travels (as much as possible) as mission or outreach trips, that I hope will become opportunities to help the needy and share the love of Jesus to others.

From that time on, my life was changed.

I learned more fully to treasure friendships and to value the experiences more than any other things in life. I learned to be more confident, independent, and practical. I learned to become more passionate and compassionate.

Yes! Traveling has changed my life. So today, I travel more so the lives of others will be changed too.

Sure, I listened to my heart, and my life was changed.

How about you?

Make a change into someone else's life today!

PS. Kudos to my Father and Mother, Regin Reyno, and the Sole Sisters!
